You'll want to measure the region you're making the garland for. I eye-balled mine for the reason that I want to embrace the imperfect, but If you're desirous to be somewhat more specific I extremely suggest measuring the trim with the doorway and incorporating an additional 6-12 inches depending on the measurement of bow you need to your garland.
